Invest In Your Teammates. We all have heard there’s no “I” in team, but there an “I” is in “win”. While both saying are true, it takes a whole team to impact the game. The pitcher can’t collect outs without the defense making plays, and the hitter can’t drive in any runs without runners on base. If there’s a teammate that isn’t putting forth a strong effort or complaining, respectfully let them know that it’s effecting the team negatively, and we need them to lock back in. We’re teaming up with CCBC Essex Baseball for a Fall Baseball Camp on Saturday, November 9th from 6pm-9pm. This camp is open to ages 8-15 and will take place at the CCBC Essex Wellness Center in Rosedale, MD. At camp, players of all skill levels will benefit from instruction by experienced coaches and players from The Yard Baseball Academy and CCBC Essex. The focus will be on player development, situational baseball, and the mental aspects of the game, all while ensuring a fun atmosphere. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from former professionals and current college coaches and players. The camp activities will cover hitting, throwing, fielding, and base running, with engaging competitions planned throughout camp. To make the most of the camp, attendees are encouraged to bring their gloves, bats, hats, sneakers/turfs, and plenty of water. Perception of 30% A quarterback that has a 30% completion rate will find probably find themselves on the bench. Same with a basketball players free throw percentage or a goalies save rate at 30%. But in baseball, a hitter that gets a hit 30% of the time is considered one of the greats. Baseball is built around failure, and if we take the same approach to baseball as we do to other sports, we’re going to go home pretty frustrated. Try talking about something light hearted like plans after the game or what flavor gum they’re chewing on, followed by some positivity. This isn’t meant to distract them, it’s meant to to relax and remind them the moment isn’t as big as they’re making it. Our College Showcases are focused on putting prospective student-athletes on the field with college coaches from neighboring areas from Divisions 1, 2, 3, and Junior College. Players will exhibit their skills and talents offensively, defensively, pitching, and catching. The Yard Baseball Academy is in compliance with NCAA rules and regulations.   Every Player Will Receive: - Edited recruitment video with metrics included - High level communication from coaches - Evaluation and feedback from coaches - Rosters with players assigned numbers and metrics provided to coaches - Metrics provided on run times, pitch velocity, exit speed, pop time, etc. - Discussion on NCAA recruiting process and a “day in the life” of a student-athlete - Learn different philosophies from each coach and what they look for in prospective student-athletes   Edited Recruitment Video + Metrics: All participating ballplayers will have their showcase performances recorded, edited, and sent to them. Their video will include all aspects of their showcase: the 60-yard dash, batting practice, defensive skills, and bullpen sessions. Player metrics will also be displayed. These videos can be used for college recruitment, social media, player spotlights, and more.   Recruitment Conversation for Prospective Student-Athletes and Parents: This educational segment will cover various topics of the recruitment process. Ways to promote yourself to colleges, a “day in the life” of a student-athlete, what to consider when narrowing college selection, and more will be included.
